Re-Appointment of Audit Chair and 2 Non Executive Directors

Liverpool Primary Care Trust is pleased to announce the Appointments Commission has re-appointed the Audit Chair and two Non-executive directors to the Board.

 

Graham Bell, Wally Brown and Dr Samir Rihani have all been re-appointed in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments' Code of Practice.

 

Gideon Ben-Tovim, Chair of Liverpool PCT said: “I am delighted that Graham Bell, Wally Brown and Samir Rihani have been re-appointed to the Liverpool PCT Board. They have all served on the Board for a number of years, bringing a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge.

 

“All three are assets to the organisation and I am pleased that they have decided to continue in their roles until 2013.”

 

Graham Bell has been re-appointed as Chair of the Audit Committee and will also continue his role as Vice Chair.

 

For the past 12 years he has worked in the community/voluntary sector, in a variety of roles at senior board level. He has operated at grassroots level and other more strategic roles both locally and nationally. Graham is Executive Chair of Parks Options, a social enterprise that owns Job Bank and Yewtree Nursery. He is Chair of the Community Regeneration Forum and Vice-chair of Liverpool Community Network. He is also a Governor of Broadgreen High School and the Academy of Frances of Assisi.

 

His term runs from 12 October 2009 to 11 October 2013 and he will receive a remuneration of £13,136 per annum.  The Board oversees all decision making and ensures the PCT is working within its remit.

 

Wally Brown has been re-appointed as a Non-executive director. His term will run from 12 October 2009 until 11 October 2013 and he will receive a remuneration of £7,882 per annum.

 

Dr Samir Rihani has also been re-appointed as a Non-executive director. His term will run from 12 October 2009 until 11 October 2013 and he will receive a remuneration of £7,882 per annum.

 

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public.  None of the re-appointees have declared any political activity and do not hold any other ministerial appointments.
